Hello!

If you are using Windows 10, the problem may be that the game is not set to run as administrator. You can change this by right-clicking on the .exe file, going to properties in the drop-down menu, then going to the compatibility tab and checking the box that says "Run as Administrator".

I did what you said but still the same thing. NO window opening, the game is fresh new, no mods and with compatibility mode.

Found this fix on youtube. When you try this, does it solve the problem, or is there still an issue?

Hi AnonyQuestions, I am Andrew an independent advisor. Your problem may lay in the way Windows has changed over the years. Try running the game in Compatibility Mode by right clicking the EXE. Based on the age of the game I'd start with Windows XP. This makes Windows run as if it's the old system, it helps.

Let me know how it goes for you,
Andrew

Try right-clicking on the .exe again. In the drop down menu select troubleshoot compatibility. If it suggests a different compatibility mode than the one you are currently using, try running the game that way.

EDIT: Out of curiosity: did you delete the file shown in the youtube video? It's a hidden file, so it may not show up in your file explorer unless you choose the option to show hidden files.

GTA-SA (and the vast majority of old games) runs fine on Win10.

I'm not using any Compatibility setting, but Win10 will force the Change High DPI Settings option automatically

(as it often does with games that don't need it, while not doing the same with games that do. Must have wrote the auto code backasswards

- However, I just discovered this game will not launch if your machine is using an Integrated graphics (eg- Intel HD & maybe AMD APU).

I expect this is a driver issue as the game will run with my Intel HD4600 graphics on WIn7, but not on Win10. I believe I've

tested it with Intel, but don't recall the results, or when.

It's also possible the game ran using Intel HD graphics on earlier versions of Win10.

[EDIT: See my post on page 2 - 26 May - It shows the youtube fix ErinS8 linked to above ]

- No problems with Nvidia or AMD dedicated graphics cards.

Ah! Forgot about having to enable Direct Play. Most of the time when a game needs this and it has not already been enabled in

Programs and Features >Turn Windows Features On or Off, you get an error message regarding Direct Draw

This is off by default for some reason, and early versions of Win10 Windows did not have a pop-up message

offering to 'install', as it does with games that use it with newer Win10 versions.

Curious you didn't also get this pop up. I just disabled DP and got that message. Just goes to show how inconsistent Win10 can be I guess.

Good to hear you got it sorted.
